Description
Most high performance racing car clutches are automatically operated during gear changes but are manually operated by the driver from the steering wheel when moving from a standstill at race starts and pit stops. During a race the driver executes gear changes by pushing a button on the steering wheel. The 'on-board' computer automatically cuts the engine, actuates the clutch and gear change. The clutch's electro-hydraulic actuation system requires two proportional measurement sensors, one on the steering wheel and one mounted next to the clutch (the feedback sensor). Active Sensors offer a number of 'motorsport ready' sensor solutions for clutch-operating systems. The sensor mounted on the steering wheel is a miniature RH0500 series Hall Effect and the feedback device is a high temperature contactless LT LVDT sensor. The LT LVDT sensor would have a continuous operating temperature of 200°C and survive excursions up to 400°C.
For bespoke applications we offer a comprehensive design, manufacture and speedy delivery service to satisfy the fast paced engineering developments associated with international motorsport.
LVDT position sensors
AC LVDT sensors for industrial, automotive and aerospace control and measurement systems. Advanced manufacturing techniques ensure superior sensor stablity, accuracy and repeatability in the most hostile of environments up to 200°C (400°F). Measurement ranges from 1mm to 200mm (8")
Linear Hall-Effect sensors
Hall Effect linear sensors are designed to provide cost effective position measurement utilising proven contactless Hall Effect technology. They operate from a 5Vdc or 6-30Vdc supply and have outpit options of 0.5V to 4.5V, serial CAN 2.0 or RS485.
Rotary Hall-Effect sensors
RH long life rotary position sensors are available with single, or dual outputs and up to 360° of electrical angle. Output options are analogue (0 - 5V), PWM or serial CAN 2.0 and RS485. They have a 12-bit resolution (0.08°) over the measuring angle and an impressive update time of <2mS, making them ideal for dynamic control and measurement systems.
