ROAD CAMBER PROFILING MADE EASY THANKS TO ACTIVE SENSORS

Determining the camber on a road surface has always caused surveyors problems until Active Sensors was approached to help. Working with the machinery designers, Active’s engineers were able to determine their requirements and specify an ultra compact linear sensor from the CLS1310 series. The compact body design was chosen because of the restricted space available under the road-surveying vehicle. A series of ten sensors were attached to wheels, which ran along the road surface. The sensors measured any movement in the wheels and relayed the information back to on-board computers. The surveyors were then able to evaluate the results and determine whether the road had the correct camber angle.
