Description
Active speed sensors are designed for use in the automotive, industrial, railway and the aerospace industries. The sensors provide speed and direction information for control and measurement systems. Applications include speed control, braking systems, traction systems and data recording. Performance features include rugged housings sealed to IP67 for fluid immersion and fully encapsulated electronics for survival in extremes of temperature, vibration and shock. Rotational speed sensors are designed to detect a target-induced magnetic field between the sensor face and a target. No magnets are required in the target. The sensors have an operating temperature of 200°C and are heat cycled prior to final calibration to ensure thermal stability and survival when operated at elevated temperatures. Customer specific designs can be manufactured within two weeks.
The Differential Hall Effect (DSS) sensor benefits from integrated electronics with dual Hall Effect elements so no additional circuitry is required. The sensor gives a voltage output when subjected to a changing magnetic field above 15Hz. No magnets are required in the target. The sensor has an operating temperature of 175°C. Applications include wheel and gear speed.
The Inductive (ISS) sensor has a temperature performance of 200°C for more extreme applications. The sensor output voltage is proportional to target speed and air gap. The sensors are suitable for use with interfaces that trigger on threshold or zero crossing. Applications include crank and cam speed.
The Zero Speed Hall Effect (ZSS) sensor benefits from integrated electronics so no additional circuitry is required. The electronic circuit operates with a single Hall Effect element so is not orientation dependant. The sensor gives a voltage output when subjected to a changing magnetic field down to 0Hz. No magnets are required in the target. The sensor has an operating temperature of 175°C. Applications include wheel speed.
