Combining business skills with technical know-how, the team guide the organisation effectively to its goal of providing high quality sensor solutions to its global customers. Equipped with technical expertise, excellent individual knowledge and extensive experience, they nurture groups of talented employees to create innovative products and solutions that enable our customers around the world to have confidence in our business.

Chris Smith - Co founder & Chief Executive

Chris is responsible for the strategic direction of the company and overall execution of the company's plans to deliver highly engineered sensor products. Chris built the company with year on year growth, making Active Sensors one of the leading 'independent' sensor design company's in the world. His mission is for it to become the number one sensor provider for its target markets through development of new products and by an innovative approach to engineering.

Peter Smith - Co founder & Executive Director of Engineering

With an eye for detail and a mathematical understanding of engineering processes, Peter oversees all engineering operations. Working closely with the management team, he fulfils customer needs by overseeing rapid project planning and implementation and design support ensuring complete project fulfilment and customer satisfaction.

Ian Miles - Operations

Ian joined Active Sensors from Schlumberger as Chief Draughtsman in February 2005. He has been leading the team responsible for the company's operational structure since July 2006. Ian has held senior engineering positions for 20 years and has international business experience in North America, Europe and the Far East. Previous employers include Plessey Communications and British Aerospace.

Simon Terry - Technical

Active Sensors recruited Simon from Honeywell Avionics as a senior electronics engineer in May 2001. Since July 2003 he has been responsible for development of the company's electronic sensor products. In 2007 Simon was promoted to Technical Manager and now oversees all engineering developments.

Alex Gibson- Sales and marketing

Alex joined Active Sensors as Sales Office Manager in May 2007. Since his appointment he has been responsible for product promotion and customer service. His responsibilities now include new business development and media communications. Previously, Alex worked for Spirax and Hamworthy holding positions in production engineering and technical administration.

Jeff McCreeth - Inductive products

Jeff joined Active Sensors from Curtiss Wright Controls in July 2004. With 25 years hands-on experience in aerospace LVDT sensor engineering, he leads the team responsible for inductive products development and production. Jeff recently gained a BA in Business & Management and was previously employed by Seismic Survey.

Carl Husbands - Quality assurance

As an ISO9001 company, all aspects of technical procedures and administration are controlled through the Quality Control Department. Carl is passionate about quality and leads the inspection team ensuring that Active Sensors rates in the top 2% of companies successfully accredited by URS. Carl was employed in the calibration and test industry for almost 20 years.

Paul Walsh - Production

Paul joined Active Sensors from the military in December 2001. Having served his country in electrical engineering and telecommunications disciplines for 20 years, he now leads the company's production team ensuring the smooth running of the sub-assembly and final assembly departments. Paul enjoys the hands-on element of precision sensor manufacture.

Phil Elkins - Procurement

Phil joined Active Sensors in August 2001 to lead the company's procurement program. Having previously worked in aerospace administration with Penny & Giles Flight Data Recorders, he is responsible for procurement and sub-contact management. A continuous supply of high quality components is essential for the smooth running of a manufacturing organisation.
