Steering angle measurement sensors

Steering-angle position sensors measure steering wheel movement and are usually mounted on the steering column (rotary sensor) or the steering rack (linear sensor). The steering angle information is important to race engineer's to evaluate the vehicles steering characteristics verses chassis movement and also driver performance. The sensors are also used in electro-hydraulic power-assisted steering systems for varying the assistance given to the driver depending on the vehicles speed and cornering. Active Sensors offer a number of 'motorsport ready' sensor solutions for steering angle measurement.

For bespoke applications we offer a comprehensive design, manufacture and speedy delivery service to satisfy the fast paced engineering developments associated with international motorsport.

Rotary potentiometers - general purpose, high performance

RP rotary potentiometers are designed for the most demanding control and measurement systems. Used extensively in motorsport for throttle and gearbox control, steering angle measurement and the monitoring systems of the chassis. The RP is available with a choice of electrical angles and mounting options.

Linear potentiometers - general purpose, high performance

Both the SLS and MLS Series of linear potentiometers are designed using the proven benefits of composite track technology and include a number of design features. The SLS has a single track suitable for general applications, where performance and reliability coupled with competitive pricing is of importance. The MLS has a twin element conductive track design which provides superior performance under vibration and shock conditions. They are available with a range of case diameters and stroke lengths up to 500mm (20").

Magnetic hall contactless rotary position sensors - general purpose, high performance

Magnetic hall contactless rotary position sensors are based on true solid-state 'hall-voltage/magnetic-field' measurement technology. Sensor designs are available with single or dual, triple and quadruple outputs and design benefits, include improved output signal linearization over the measurement range, overall sensor accuracy and higher operating temperatures compared to similar position sensor products.
